Hugh qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross and has over 20 years’ experience as a private equity investor in the UK. Hugh is a co-founder of Phoenix Equity Partners, an independent private equity investment business established in 2001. Phoenix has 3 UK offices and invests in medium-sized businesses across a range of sectors. Hugh is Chairman of Phoenix’s Investment Committee. He is also a Director of ASCO, an oil and gas logistics business, and of LK Bennett, a ladies clothing retailer. Hugh is the past chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, the UK’s private equity trade body; and is a trustee of Prisoners’ Education Trust which provides distance learning courses for offenders
