Rutland has been at the forefront of UK turnaround investing for many years and celebrated its 10th Anniversary as a private equity fund in 2011. Rutland has raised two funds dedicated to investing in turnarounds, restructurings and business improvement: Rutland Fund I (£210m) in March 2001 and Rutland Fund II (£322m) in July 2007, which is currently being invested. Since 2001, Rutland has made 13 investments across a diverse range of sectors and with a total of £315m of equity capital invested. Five of these investments have now been exited for an aggregate value of £437m. Notable successes have been Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Interfloor Group, Carron Energy, H&T Group and Attends Healthcare.
Nick is Managing Partner and has been actively involved in all phases of the development of Rutland including its establishment as a private equity fund in 2001. He has been responsible for a wide range of investments including a number of turnarounds in sectors as varied as healthcare, logistics, media and manufacturing. Nick is an Oxford law graduate who started his career in corporate finance at BZW before joining Rutland in 1987.
