Ross negotiated Dunedin’s buyout in 1996 and has led the development of the company from a small Edinburgh based investment trust manager into a leading UK mid-market buyout house
Dunedin opened its London office and raised its first limited partnership fund in 2001, acquired Sand Aire Private Equity in 2005 and raised its second £250m fund in 2006. Funds under management have grown from £50m to £500m over the past fifteen years. Dunedin has been successful by focusing on lower mid-market buyouts with good growth potential – a strategy which has delivered strong returns to Dunedin’s investors.
Ross is a Chartered Accountant with a BCom with distinction from the University of Edinburgh. He spent two years with Price Waterhouse and ten years with 3i in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Birmingham. He joined Dunedin in 1994 and has over 27 years private equity experience. His responsibilities include chairing Dunedin's investment committee and investor relations. He is a member of the BVCA’s Mid-Market Committee and is regularly invited to speak at industry events.
